The cost of dog food over the past 12 months has risen very significantly. We are continuing to see prices rises from the major manufacturers even if the size of the increase is not what it was 6 months ago. However it is very unlikely that we will see any prices decreases.
If you are looking to save money it can be almost impossible to work out which brand to change to. The variation in the quality of the ingredients in the various brands is enormous. Different bag sizes and feeding amounts only makes the task of finding a better value or quality food for your dog more difficult.
There is always a trade-off between the cost of the food and the quality of the ingredients. However not all expensive foods use quality ingredients. Our experience is that the brands from dedicated Pet Food Manufacturers offer must better value that the brands that are owned by the worlds largest food manufacturers - Mars and Nestle.
The website www.allaboutdogfood.com is a great resource for researching a vast number of dog food brands. It provides reviews and ratings for most major brands and also great advice about what to look for in dog food labelling.
